Press play and enjoy John Barry’s theme from the 1971 film Walkabout*
– don’t know if it will feature in the concert, I just happen to like it.
Image pinched from Royal Albert Hall’s website without permission but I will definitely remove it they ask me to 🙂
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra presents: the very best of John Barry
4 October 2013
Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Gore, London SW7 2AP, box office 0845 401 5045.
Getting to the RAH.
More details and tickets from RAH’s site:
“This concert celebrates his music and features hit pieces from: Goldfinger, Dances with Wolves, The Black Hole, Midnight Cowboy, Diamonds are Forever, Out of Africa, Born Free, Moonraker, Zulu and many more!”
I spotted that Tommy Pearson‘s doing the presenter-ing for the event, I think he was the producer for the fantastic series of film music concerts that Mark Kermode (@KermodeMovie) did with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (@theCBSO) recently (I went to the London and Manchester ones) – he’s on Twitter at @tommyrpearson, worth following if you want to increase your chances of hearing about this sort of fab stuff 🙂
*Incidentally Walkabout is actually being shown at the BFI as part of its Australia season this Autumn, on Tuesday 10 September 2013 at 18:10 in NFT2, that screening will have an introduction by Richard Combs. There’s another screening on Sunday 22 September 2013 (no introduction though).
